Who is
Single dad. Entrepreneur. Role Model. Upstanding Citizen. Shawn Powers, a mild-mannered father of two, lives a life many would admire. However, due to a freak accident, he acquired a special set of skills. He uses these skills to mangle monsters under the bed, capture creatures in the closet, and beat up bullies on the block as Mr. Powers! Join him on the journey to rid the world of evil…all while his kids are sound asleep, unaware he has super Powers! Each day is an adventure, with battles between good versus evil at nightfall, all the while teaching the readers valuable life lessons along the way.

Why
Mr. Powers
Reading to my kids, I notice there aren’t enough books where the characters look and speak like us. I want to give the kids something they can enjoy while teaching them life lessons in the process. I also created The Electrifying Adventures of Mr. Powers to show everyone that Black Men can be great fathers and still be cool. I pulled from my own experiences to show how great dads and superheroes are synonymous. The idea is to give kids inspiration to use their imaginations to create while putting smiles on the faces of parents everywhere.

STEPHEN McGILL II
Writer
A young African American father of 3, Stephen graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Morgan State University. His mother, an English teacher in Baltimore City for over 30 years , introduced him to literature at an early age. He read a book to his class in kindergarten and has had a passion for reading and writing ever since. Currently, he works for the Federal Government in the IT field and is a personal trainer. He spends his free time lifting heavy objects, listening to good music, watching super hero movies and organizing his sneaker collection.
RONALD CAMPBELL, JR.
Artist
Born and raised in Baltimore. He has no formal art training, just a life time love for creating. He dabbles in graphic design, painting, illustration, photography, video editing and frying the perfect plantain. He is one of the designers behind the brand Virtuoso Inkorporated, as well as maintaining a web-shop offering his own creations.
The Origin Story
Shawn Powers
A personal trainer with the frame of a pro football safety. Bronzed brown skin and a glowing white smile. Single father of two. Drives a fly car with huge exhaust pipes and licorice colored windows. Super cool and easy to get along with. A good role model to kids in the neighborhood. Work first so you can play afterwards, that was his motto. Considered a Super Dad by almost all that knew him. Shawn Powers was his name. His life was anything but typical, and he enjoyed every moment of it.
